“Ibiza has taught me a new way of marketing, doing business, living and being. It is an island where I found myself, my tribe, my passion and purpose, where no one or anything is further than a call or an intention away.”

Tell us about your life journey & how it led you to Ibiza.
I was born in Malta and my life journey took me around the world to the UK, Italy, US, Asia and back to Ibiza, the island I now call home. Hotique, the company I co-founded in 2000, allowed me explore the island and discover agroturismos, secret spots, venues and hotels. It took 15 years of alignment for the island to draw me right in. My mission is to give back to this island through my new project, Through the Keyhole. It is based on old-school connections, networks and island-ways, rather than technology and AI. I connect people with people, design travel experiences, organise and promote events and consult businesses based on my experience, networks and magic.
What is it that draws you to bringing people together?
The music, the sea, dance floors, nature, sensuality, like-minded souls and collective energy. No words can describe it. It’s a feeling, which pops up unannounced from somewhere deep inside us. And all it takes is a glance, to know we are in this together.
You have a joyous energy that comes out when you talk. What does Joy mean to you?
In my case, joy came to me one day, unplanned, unexpected, and beautiful. For me it was a feeling from the inside out which came after trauma. Joy is a sense of feeling alive, happy, flowing. A sense of belonging and being connected to everything and everyone around me.
If you could erase all of the current associations that the public have with Ibiza and wipe the slate clean, how would you go about marketing it? What would want to tell people?
Ibiza is different. Ibiza has her own ways of attracting, filtering, teaching and promoting where traditional marketing methods are irrelevant. The people suited to the island will find it for themselves, through the keyhole, through the network. Ibiza has taught me a new way of marketing, doing business, living and being. It is an island where I found myself, my tribe, my passion and purpose, where no one or anything is further than a call or an intention away.
Do you like to plan things out or be spontaneous?
I spent years working hard, chasing my dreams. The moment I stopped chasing them, they happened. Ibiza taught me spontaneity; how to be in the moment.
How do you think the you of today differs from the you of 5 years ago?
5 years ago I lived in fear. Today I am free, strong and a wee bit naughtier.
Who or what has been your biggest teacher in life so far?
Life itself. Trauma, love and pain happening together and then suddenly, one day, I began to feel the magic.
If you could create something completely new for the island, what would you create?
I would create a way to connect people with people, dreamers with lovers of life, entrepreneurs with investors, inventors with do-ers, islanders with visitors, artists with venues, through the most unexpected keyholes, in the right place at the right time. I believe everything is possible and this idea is what I am working on now. Bringing people, places and experiences together based on energy and magic.
What are you grateful for?
I am most grateful for my island journey, my two daughters and all of my eclectic friends who make up my family and colour my life.
For me luxury is being free. It is a state of mind where everything is possible. Luxury is when synchronicities happen in beautiful places amongst beautiful people.
Life so far – Has it all been worth it? Would you do it again?
Yes. Yes. And I wouldn’t change a thing.
